Getting started
Create your first Project
Create a managed RustaBase backend from the console, choose its plan and region, watch it provision, and connect your application with the official JavaScript or Dart SDK in a few minutes.
Before you begin
- A RustaBase account. Sign in to the console at rustabase.com.
- A workspace. Your first workspace is created with your account; create more for separate teams or clients.
- A plan. Free is for evaluation and small apps. Paid plans unlock always-on capacity, backups, custom domains, and more. Checkout runs before a paid Project is created.
Create the Project
- Open the console and select New Project.
- Plan: choose the plan for this Project. Workspaces already on a paid plan see their current plan and higher plans.
- Region: pick the region closest to your users. The console lists only regions with live capacity for your plan, and Auto region chooses the best available one for you.
- Name: enter a Project name. It becomes part of the Project address, for example my-app.rustabase.net.
- Review the Summary panel, then start provisioning.
- Follow the live progress. Provisioning continues even if you close the page.
- When the status is Ready, open the Project to see its address and connection details.
What RustaBase provisions for you
Every step is written to the Project event log so you can see exactly what happened.
- A dedicated PostgreSQL database with its own credentials.
- An isolated backend runtime that serves the API, realtime, files, and functions.
- A public HTTPS address with a managed TLS certificate.
- A first administrator (superuser) account for the Project console.
- Health and sign-in checks. The Project turns Ready only after they pass.
If a step fails, the Project keeps its history and shows a clear reason. Retrying is safe and never creates a duplicate Project.
Connect with JavaScript or TypeScript
The official `rustabase` package works in browsers, Node.js 18+, Deno, Bun, and React Native.
npm install rustabaseimport { createClient } from "rustabase";
const rb = createClient("https://my-app.rustabase.net");
await rb.auth("users").signInWithPassword("[email protected]", "secret");
const posts = await rb.from("posts").list({ sort: "-created" });
const created = await rb.from("posts").create({ title: "Hello" });Connect with Dart or Flutter
The official `rustabase_dart_sdk` package uses the same method names as the JavaScript SDK.
dart pub add rustabase_dart_sdk
# or
flutter pub add rustabase_dart_sdkimport "package:rustabase_dart_sdk/rustabase.dart";
final rb = createClient("https://my-app.rustabase.net");
await rb.auth("users").signInWithPassword("[email protected]", "secret");
final posts = await rb.from("posts").list(
options: ListOptions(sort: "-created"),
);
final created = await rb.from("posts").create({"title": "Hello"});Next steps
- Create your first table and set its access rules.
- Turn on the sign-in methods your users need.
- Add file storage, functions, webhooks, and scheduled jobs as your application grows.
- Review backups, API keys, and security settings before launch.
